I am a second-year graduate student at University of California, Davis, in the Design Department’s Master of Fine Art program. My thesis research connects sustainable clothing design with textiles, handcrafts, and women’s economic and social development in impoverished countries. I believe that design can be an agent of change for a better global society.
We are in the midst of a design paradigm shift toward “slow design,” or design focused on sustainability and well being - for both consumers and producers. I believe innovative design promotes social equity for all involved (workers, makers, consumers) while conserving and preserving the environment.
